BUFFALO, NY – The Saint Peter's baseball team was edged in both games of Sunday's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader at Canisius in Buffalo, NY. The Peacocks dropped game one, 5-1 and game two, 16-2.

Game 1

The Peacocks gave up a four run first inning, from three hits and two errors, which ultimately led to the defeat. Following the first, the Peacocks held Canisius to just three hits total and one run for the remainder of the game. Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple to lead the Peacocks. Hunter Mason (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) scored the Peacocks lone run in the top of the six inning after hitting a double to left center that was then mishandled by the shortstop on a throwing error resulting in Mason making it home for the run.

Willie Krajnik (Lyndhurst, NJ / Saint Mary) (0-3) made the start and struck out six batter in five innings of work.

Game 2

The Peacocks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by the midway point of the third inning. The Lead came by way of an RBI single by Peter Ferony (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) which led to a run by Perez. In the ensuing inning, Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill) scored on a wild pitch leading to the 2-0 edge.

The Golden Griffins went on to outscore the Peacocks 16-0 over the final six innings.

Mason led the Peacocks with two hits in his four at bats. Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS), Ferony, and Tom Campo (Pine Beach, NJ / Toms River South) each logged a hit in the game.
