LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Saint Peter's baseball team dropped both games of a twin bill on the road to Siena College on Thursday. The Peacocks fell to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament bound Siena 13-2 and 11-0.
The Peacocks took two early leads over Siena in the first and second innings. In the opening inning, Anthony Assante (Brick, NJ / Brick Memorial) singled through the left field side and Hunter Mason (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) rounded third and beat the throw home to give the Peacocks a 1-0 lead. Siena responded with a run in the bottom of the first to knot the game at 1-1.
In the second, the Peacocks again took the lead; this time Eric Mercado (Bronx, NY / All Hallows) hit a RBI single to center field allowing Austin Feigin (Toms River, NJ / Toms River North) to score from second base. Siena again answered in the bottom half of the inning with a run to tie the game at 2-2.
Following the second inning, Siena used an 11-0 run to pick up the game one win over the Peacocks.
Mason led the Peacocks in the final game of the day going 2-for-3 at the plate. Tom Campo (Pine Beach, NJ / Toms River South) also earned a hit in the contest for Saint Peter's.
The Peacocks and Saints conclude the series on Friday at 12 p.m. The game will be the season finale for the Peacocks.
