VERONA, NY - The Saint Peter's University men's golf team opened the 2017-18 season with a fourth place finish at the Tiger Intercollegiate Invitational with a final score of (318-298-299=915 +51). Stanley Garrant (77-72-76=225, +9) and Jeffery Peters (76-77-72=225, +9) led the Peacocks in the invitational, as they both finished the three round tournament tied for 12th place.
"We were led by Stanley Garrant and Jeffery Peters all weekend," said head coach Nick Dillio. "Both played consistent and were able to each shoot an even par of 72."
Invitational host, Missouri finished in first place with a score of (288-276-280=844, -20) finishing the tournament as the only team under par. UNCW finished in second place with a (313-291-290=894, +30) and Boston College finished in third with a score of (311-300-297=908, +44).
"It was a great start to this season, this tournament has the strongest field we will play against all year," said Dillio. "We know we still have work to do, but we are looking to take this momentum into the rest of the fall season."
The Peacocks will travel to Simsbury, CT to compete in the Ryan T. Lee Memorial on Saturday, September 9, at the Hop Metal Country Club.
