Mike Winter Named MAAC Male Student-Athlete of the Week

EDISON, NJ – Defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's golf individual champion and 2017 McLeod Trophy winner (MAAC MVP), Mike Winter, has been named as the MAAC Male Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office today.

Winter has helped lead the men's golf team to two top five finishes this fall, as the team placed fourth in both the Tiger Intercollegiate Invitational and the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Invitational. Winter has the team's only top 10 finish in the fall as he posted a 146 (+3) to lead the Peacocks in the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Invitational, finishing the two-round tournament tied for ninth place.

During the 2017 spring season, Winter became the second Saint Peter's golfer ever to claim the MAAC individual crown and win the McLeod Trophy. He helped lead the Peacocks to the program's third MAAC team title in four years, making the teams third appearance to the NCAA Regional. Winter also shot the second best individual round in program history during the third round of the tournament and his tournament overall score was the third best ever by a Peacock in the tournament.

In the classroom, Winter is a Business Management major who holds a GPA above 3.2, which earned him spots on the spring MAAC All-Academic team and the 2016-17 MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
