David Powers Wins the Wildcat Invitational Individual Title, Peacocks Finish Tied for Fourth

MALVERN, PA - After leading by one stroke at the conclusion of the first round, sophomore men's golfer David Powers closed out the Wildcat Invitational by winning the tournament's individual title. The Saint Peter's men's golf team concluded the invitational tied for fourth place.

 

"Great team performance overall," said head coach Nick Dilio. "It's always nice to beat all the MAAC schools. Awesome playing by David Powers. He's been putting in a lot of work and the results are starting to pay off."  

 

Powers shot a one under par on the final day of the invitational for a final score of 68+70=138 (-4) over the two day tournament, edging Wagner's A.J. Skinner by two strokes. Powers' final round produced an eagle on hole 17 and a birdie on hole five.

 

On the team scoreboard, the Peacocks tied for fourth place with a total of 290+295=585 (+17). Drexel claimed the team title, winning the tournament with a 573 (+5). Against conference teams in the field, the Peacocks tied with Iona in the fourth spot and edged Monmouth, Rider, and Siena.  

 

Jeffrey Peters and Michael Stewart finished with a final score of 149 (+7). Mike Winter followed shooting a 151 (+9) and Stanley Garrant totaled a 153 (+11).

 

The Peacocks tee-off again at the Sacred Heart Men's Spring Invitational at Great River Golf Course in Milford, CT. The three-day tournament will be held on April 14-16.
