JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's and women's tennis teams will travel to Latham, NY to be across the net from the Siena College Saints on Sunday, March 19. First serve between the two MAAC foes is set for 1pm at Tri City Fitness.
Last Time Out - The men's team fell at Drexel, 7-0. They are currently on a nine-match skid. The women's team had two weeks off from match play. They look to rebound after falling to Lafayette College, 5-2. They won the doubles point by winning No. 1, Lucia Radovic and Malieva Hedberg, and No. 2, Claudia Hellman and Elena Melian Puigventos. Claudia Hellman provided the second point winning at No. 4 singles.
History - The men's team gutted out a 4-3 Senior Day win at the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble last year against Siena. The Peacocks swept the Saints in doubles play and won half of the singles matches to earn the win. Alumni Daniil Ivanov won at No. 1 doubles with Douglas Nover and at No. 1 singles. Nover won at No. 5 singles. Andres-Sebastian Rojas and Gabriel Russotto teamed up for a tiebreak win at No. 2 doubles. Rojas provided another win at No. 3 singles by retirement. Jonathan Paredes and Cuong Lam won at No. 3 doubles for the sweep. The Siena College Saints swept the women's team last year on April 24, 2016. The last time the women's team defeated Siena was at home on April 15, 2012 by a score of 5-2.
Scouting - The men's team of Siena College own a 2-7 record and are currently on a seven match losing streak. Their wins are against in-conference foe, Rider and Holy Cross. The Women's team of Siena College are undefeated on the year with an 8-0 record. They own wins against teams such as Rider, St. Bonaventure, and Providence.
Up Next - There will be action in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble beginning after the end of Friday classes. The women's team returns home for a Friday, March 24 match against Queens College (NY) at 3:15pm. Then, the men's team will host MAAC conference opponent, Fairfield University, on Saturday at 2pm. The last day of the triple-header will have the women's team hosting Fairfield University for a 2pm match on the Sunday.
