NEWARK, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team lost to Wagner College, 6-1, at New Jersey Institute of Technology's Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The loss drops the record of the team to 2-11 overall.
Doubles Results - The few tweaks with the teams did not prove successful as the Peacocks lost the doubles tandem point, 3-0. Piotr Sowinski and Ivan Knezevic played against Anatoliy Lashkul at No. 1 and fell, 6-1. At No. 2, John Oxner and Hector Andres Jacome battled but ultimately lost, 7-5, to Eric Poland and Dylan Walters. Playing for the first time this season, Sebastian Ferrer and Douglas Nover, were defeated at No. 3, 6-3, by Ilya Kneppelhout and Charlton Boyd.
Singles Results - The lone point on the board came from No. 2, Sowinski, as the Peacock defeated Lashkul, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. No. 1, Jacome, No. 4, Ignacio Tintore, and No. 6, Ivan Knezevic all fell in three sets. Jacome fell to Walter, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Tintore lost to Poland 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. Knezevic suffered a setback to Kneppelhout, 6-2, 3-6, -. Oxner lost to Hans Ohrner, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3. Igor Khvorostian was defeated by Boyd, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6.
Up Next - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team looks to rebound in less than 24 hours, on Saturday, March 17, when they host Delaware at the Westfield Indoor Tennis Club in Westfield, NJ. First serve is set to be hit at 2:30pm.
