WEST HAVEN, CT - The Saint Peter's tennis teams fell to Sacred Heart at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on the campus of Yale. The men fell 5-2 and their record drops to 2-13. The women were swept and their record falls to 0-14.
Men's Results - The Peacocks went 1-2 in doubles and 2-4 in singles. Piotr Sowinski and Ivan Knezevic lost 6-4 at No. 1 against Hosokawa and Derek Chapman. Hector Andres Jacome and John Oxner were the lone pair winner at No. 2, 6-2. They defeated Einstoss and Cory Seltman. Ignacio Tintore and Sebastian Ferrer fell, 6-2, to Sause and Del Valle at No. 3. Jacome, playing at No. 1 against Hosokawa, lost 6-2, 7-5. Sowinski fell to Chapman, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 2. No. 3, Oxner, and No. 4, Tintore, were the only singles winner against Einstoss and Seltman, respectively. Oxner won handily 6-1, 6-3. Tintore won a tough match, 7-6(3), 7-5. Knezevic was defeated by Sause at No. 5, 6-4, 6-3. Douglas Nover battled back but ultimately fell in a super tiebreak at No. 6, 6-3, 6(5)-7, -.
Women's Results - Playing with only 5 players, the Peacocks were swept by the Pioneers and had to default No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Stephanie Falcon and Azuri Hughes were only able to get a game at No. 1. They lost to Lauria and Podsiebierski, 6-1. Aidah Muhammad and Marta Ortega fell, 6-0, to Tobia and Crivei at No. 2. No. 1, Falcon, No. 2, Hughes, and No. 3, Muhammad, all fell by the same scoreline, 6-1, 6-0, to Lauria, Podsiebierski, and Tobia, respectively. Ortega was defeated by Alfonso, 6-0, 6-1. Jennifer Guilherme lost to Crivei, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5.
Up Next - The women's tennis team will return to the courts for an away match at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ on Tuesday, March 20. First serve is set to be hit at 3pm.
