Men's Tennis Suffers 5-2 Defeat against Fordham

HARRISON, NY - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team fell to Fordham for the second time this season by the same scoreline, 5-2, at the Life Time Athletic Club.

 

Doubles Results - With a change from the October match against the Rams, the Peacocks got swept in doubles this time around. Piotr Sowinski and Ivan Knezevic fell, 7-5, at No. 1 against Lutwin de Macar and Fabian Hansch Mauritzson. John Oxner and Hector Andres Jacome were defeated by Finn Kemper and Jeremy Chung at No. 2, 6-4. Ignacio Tintore and Igor Khvorostian dropped a 6-2 decision to Max Green and Allen Thornes at No. 3.

 

Singles Results - No. 2, Sowinski, and No. 3, Oxner, proved to be the only bright spots on the day for Saint Peter's as they defeated Green and Thorne, respectively. Oxner is undefeated in singles against Fordham in dual matches as he won this time, 6-3, 6-2. Sowinski won by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Jacome lost to de Macar 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1. Tintore lost the same number of games to Mauritzson except the scoreline was 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4. Knezevic suffered a setback as he could not find his rhythm at No. 5 against Kemper, 6-1, 6-1. Khvorostian was defeated by Makatsaria, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6.

 

Up Next - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team will travel to Teaneck, NJ for a match against the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday, March 29. First serve is set to be hit at 3pm.
