JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team was swept by defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion, Monmouth University, on Saturday, April 14 at Lincoln Park.
Doubles Results - The Peacocks lost the doubles tandem point, 2-1 with the lone winners being Ignacio Tintore and Hector Andres Jacome at No. 3. They defeated Srdjan Jakovljevic and Sergio Martinez, 7-6(2). No. 1, Piotr Sowinski and John Oxner, lost in a tiebreak to Nicola Pipoli and Alberto Giuffrida, 7-6(3). Ivan Knezevic and Douglas Nover struggled at No. 2, losing 6-0, against Ale Gomez Estrada and Max Benaim.
Singles Results - Jacome lost to Pipoli at the top flight, 6-1, 6-0. Sowinski was defeated by Jakovljevic, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2. Oxner suffered a setback at No. 3 against Gomez Estrada, 6-3, 6-4. No. 4, Tintore, fell to Benaim, 6-2, 6-1. Igor Khvorostian won one game a piece in each set as he lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 to Will Cooke Wharton. Gabriel Russotto succumbed to Martinez at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
Up Next - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team, along with the women's tennis team, will travel to Edgewater, NJ to host MAAC foe Niagara on Sunday, April 15. First serve is set to be hit at 3:45pm at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
