The Saint Peter's softball team will participate in the First Annual Pirate Invitational. On Friday the Peacocks will face Brown University in the first round on the Sheppard Sr. Field at 10am.


The Brown Bears will enter Friday's game with an overall record of 0-10. Brown dropped to Rutgers 7-0 in the Florida Atlantic Invitational on March 12. The Peacocks will face brown for a second time on Sunday at 2:30pm.


Seton Hall dropped to UMASS 0-1 in the Aggie Invitational on March 11. The Pirates currently have an overall record of 9-9-1. The Pirates will meet the Peacocks on Saturday on March 18. The game is  scheduled to start at 2:30pm.


HArtford enters the tournament with an overall record of 2-14. The Hawks dropped to Boise State on 10-1 on March 12. Hartford will meet the Peacocks in a doubleheader matchup on Monday. The first game will start at 12:15pm.


The Peacocks dropped a four-game series to Bucknell in Vero, Florida. In the final game Bucknell defeated the Peacocks 4-1. The Peacocks started Senior, Alyssa Ruiz who scattered four hits over four innings, only allowing four runs (one earned). The Peacocks battled with the bats with Junior, Harley Connors (Mason, OH/ Williams Mason), leading the charge with two hits, one being a double and scored the Peacocks sole run in the top of the seventh inning.


Saint Peter's softball team will return 10 players including four seniors, (Samantha Storms, Alyssa Ruiz, Crystal Carlucci,Candace Koch) two juniors, (Nicole Feoli, Chamar Sanchez), and four sophomores, (Schieler Collins, Harley Connors, Tiffani Lambert, Sydney Ramsey).


The Peacocks welcome five freshmen to the team Kathleen Donovan (Abington, NJ), Alina Guevara (Agoura Hills, CA), Theamaris Ramirez (Homestead, FL),Brianna Hutchinson (Lebanon,OH) and Georgia Verrastro (Scott Township, PA).


Chris Stelma begins his first season at the helm of Saint Peter's. He most recently served as an assistant coach at Division III, William Paterson University in New Jersey during the 2016 season. Prior to joining William Paterson, he was the owner of Fielder's Choice Baseball/Kaboom Softball in Andover, where he coordinates training, league play, tournaments and facilities, and served as the head coach of the U18 Showcase baseball and softball teams. Stelma was the baseball head coach at his alma mater, County College of Morris during the fall of 2007.

Stelma earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Rhode Island in 2006. While at URI, Stelma was a member of the baseball team where he played two seasons at shortstop for the Rams, making 31 starts and appearing in over 40 games. Prior to transferring to URI, Stelma began his collegiate career at County College of Morris where he played for current Saint Peter's assistant coach Ed Moskal in 2003. He was named All-Region and All-Garden State Conference at County College of Morris and ranked in the top 15 among JUCO hitters in 2003.
