NEWARK, NJ – After beginning the 2017-18 season with four straight wins, the Saint Peter's men's swimming team's undefeated season came to an end after a weekend tri-meet at NJIT with host, Highlanders and Bryant University. The team dropped their meets with both teams, falling to NJIT, 206-135 and falling to Bryant, 238-95.
"The athletes swam quite well this weekend in comparison to their performances thus far this season, so there is no reason to be disappointed with the outcome," said head coach Mark Kretzer. "It is apparent that they are extremely tired from intense training these past few weeks both in the pool and in the weight room. Many of our athletes are being introduced to new and more difficult types of training than ever before, but when it all comes together further along in our season it's going to be amazing to watch. Senior's Igal Oren and Thomas Calloni were among the most consistent performers throughout the weekend, posting some great times both days."
The women's swimming team returns to action on Saturday, November 18, when the teams travels to Stony Brook for a dual meet. Both the men and women will next participate in the annual H2ounds Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland on the campus of Loyola University. The invitational will feature host Loyola, Iona, Marist, and Mount St. Mary's.
