BUFFALO, NY – The Saint Peter's men's and women's swim teams completed the first day of action at the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships in Buffalo, NY at the Burt Flickenger Center at Erie Community College. The men's swim team had a solid showing on day one, finishing the night in sixth place with 54 points. The women's team earned 28 points and currently sits in 10th place.


The men's team opened the night with a sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, swam by the foursome of Michael Spark, Igal Oren, Chad Williams, and Daniel Betts with a time of 1.32.55, grabbing 26 points. The squad closed the night earning 28 points behind a fifth-place finish in the 800 free relay, led by Oren, Oleksiy Polishchuk, Andrew Galarza, and Thomas Calloni with a finishing time of 6:52.75.


On the women's side, the team earned 14 points in both the 200 medley relay, swam by the quartet of Karen Castaneda, Rachel Valentine, Brianni Thomas, and Lindsey Hanger, and in the 800 free relay, swam by the group of Hanger, Castaneda, Valentine, and Alexandria Thomas.


Action resumes tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with prelims followed by finals at 6 p.m.
