NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Saint Peter's women's soccer team fell on the road at Iona, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest.
Freshman goalkeeper, Victoria Scarratt made the start in goal for Saint Peter's and earned five saves in 48:24 minutes of action before an injury took her out of the game. Senior, Taylor McLean entered the game in reserve at keeper and made two saves in 41:36, but surrendered the game's lone goal, giving her the defeat in the contest. The Peacocks had three different players log two shots in the game. Nazae Craw, Isabel Fernandez, and Barbara Paiva each recorded the two shots, while Carlee Gonzalez earned the team's only shot on goal on the day.
Iona's game-winning goal was scored in the 76th minute by Mariana Jaramillo off of a touch pass from Mariah Elsenheimer, scoring on a one hit under the crossbar over McLean.
The Peacocks will close out the regular season on Saturday at noon against hOURglass Rival, Monmouth University at Jaroschak Field. The contest will be the annual Senior Day Ceremony celebration, which will begin at 11:45am.
