HEMPSTEAD, NY - The Saint Peter's University women's tennis team was defeated by Hofstra University Pride, 7-0, on Sunday at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center.
Results - The Peacocks weren't able to win a set in the match. Lucia Radovic and Malieva Hedberg, top doubles duo, lost to Sarah Catherine Herndon and Jasmine King, 6-2. At No. 2, Stephanie Falcon and Aidah Muhammad fell to D'Asha Davis and Tara Reutter, 6-1. Claudia Hellman and Christian Resurreccion were defeated by Michal Kaplan and Disha Yellayi at the No. 3 position, 6-0. Radovic fell to King, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 1 singles position. Elena Melian Puigventos had a close first set but ultimately lost to D'Asha Davis, 7-5, 6-2. Hedberg (No. 3), Hellman (No. 4), and Falcon (No. 5) each were defeated by identical scores, 6-1, 6-0, to Kaplan, Herndon, and Yellayi, respectively. Resurreccion was dropped at No. 6 singles by Reutter, 6-0, 6-2.
Up Next - The women's team returns to the road for one last trip during the 2016-2017 season for a postponed MAAC and hOURglass rivalry match against Rider University. The match is set for Thursday, April 20, in Lawrenceville, NJ with first serve to be hit at 3:00pm.
