Women's Tennis and Rider will Meet on Thursday for a Rescheduled Match

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's tennis team returns on the road for a MAAC and hOURglass rivalry match against the Rider University Broncs in Lawrenceville, NJ. The reschedule final away match is set for the first serve to be hit at 3:30pm on Thursday, April 20. The women own a 2-16 overall record and a 0-5 MAAC record.

 

Last Time Out - The Peacocks fell to the Red Foxes of Marist College, 7-0, in a MAAC match on April 2. Malieva Hedberg was the lone Peacock on the team to win a set but lost in a third set match tiebreaker at No. 3 singles.

 

Scouting - The Broncs own a 7-10 overall record and a 1-5 record in conference. Their only conference win was against Monmouth, 6-1, while the team lost a nail biter to the same team, 4-3. Rider was selected sixth in the MAAC Tennis Preseason Poll.

 

History - The women's team defeated Rider, 6-1, last season in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble on April 19. Elena Melian Puigventos (No. 1 Doubles), Lucia Radovic (No. 2 Singles/No. 1 Doubles), Malieva Hedberg (No. 3 Singles/No. 2 Doubles), Claudia Hellman (No. 4 Singles/No. 2 Doubles), Stephanie Falcon (No. 5 Singles), and Christian Resurreccion (No. 6 Singles) all won for the women's team.

 

Up Next - The Saint Peter's University women's team, along with the men's team, will play its final home match in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center for the 2016-2017 season. Please come out and help send the teams off with a win as we honor the seniors in a pre-match ceremony. The final conference match is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, April 22, against the Niagara University Purple Eagles.
