Radovic Earns Singles Win, Women's Tennis Falls to Rival Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's tennis team lost to MAAC and hOURglass rival, Rider University, 6-1, in a rescheduled match. The women fall to 2-17 for their overall record and 0-6 in conference.

 

Results - The Peacocks dropped the doubles tandem point. No .1, Lucia Radovic and Elena Melian Puigventos, and No. 3, Stephanie Falcon and Aidah Muhammad, lost by identical set scores, 6-3, to the teams of Vanessa Canda and Cyd Melendez and Danielle Scrudato and Kelli Swanson, respectively. Claudia Hellman and Azuri Hughes fell to Amanda Binder and Caitlin Gardner, 6-0. Radovic pulled out the only point for the Peacocks as she won against Canda at the top singles flight, 6-4, 6-3. Puigventos was dropped by Melendez, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2. Hellman lost a tightly contested No. 3 match to Gardner, 7-5, 6-4. Falcon fell to Binder, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4. Christian Resurreccion was defeated by Scrudato at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0. Muhammad lost to Swanson at the lowest singles flight, 6-2, 6-1.

 

Up Next - The women's tennis team returns for their final match of the 2016-2017 in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble on Saturday, April 22. Everyone come support the teams and help them send off their six seniors at 10:00am against Niagara University.
