JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's tennis team played for the third consecutive day in the Yanitelli Center, this time against Wagner College, falling, 7-0. The loss drops the team's overall record to 0-9.
Doubles Results - Stephanie Falcon and Azuri Hughes fell, 6-1, against Vedika Anand and Rina Baynes at No. 1. Marta Ortega and Jennifer Guilherme started well but ultimately lost in No. 2 against Samantha Hodges and Brenda Cumpa, 6-2. Carolyn Gibson and Melanie Post won by default at No. 3 doubles.
Singles Results - The women's tennis team began doubles played already down 2-0 because they had to default No. 5 and 6 singles letting Post and Gibson collect wins for Wagner. Falcon played Anand at the top singles position with the Seahawk winning, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2, Hughes squared up against Hodges and lost 6-0, 6-0. Ortega could not win a game in the match against Baynes at No. 3, falling 6-0, 6-0. Guilherme was defeated at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0, by Cumpa.
Up Next - The Saint Peter's women's tennis team, along with the men's tennis team, will welcome Coppin State on Saturday, February 17. The match is set to begin at 12 noon in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble.
